My Story I was born and raised in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The legendary Todd Lodwick (5 time Olympian) was one of my first babysitters and I think he may have influenced me into trying ski jumping for the first time at Howelsen Hill. At the age of 7 I fell in love with the sport of Nordic Combined and haven't looked back since then. I consider myself very fortunate growing up in a community that is so supportive of its winter athletes. It was not easy traveling around the country and world missing upwards of 50 school days a year, but I managed to uphold a high GPA in high school and make the honor roll every semester.
Since graduating from high school last year I have decided to defer from CU Boulder's College of Architecture and Design and pursue my Olympic dreams. This year I continue to train in my home town of Steamboat Springs under my coach Martin Bayer as part of the National Training Group. I would like to thank all of the people who support me, especially my family and the community of Steamboat Springs. Nothing I do could be possible without all of you! I would also a special thank you to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC). The SSWSC has been the number one reason I've been able to pursue my dreams. From providing a world class facility for training to teaching me valuable life lessons I cannot express how grateful I am for everything the SSWSC has provided me. |
What I Do Outside Nordic CombinedGrowing up in the mountains taught me one great lesson, that the outdoors is always better than the indoors. In my limited downtime my favorite activity is fly fishing. Growing up on the Elk River most likely fueled that desire to catch fish. I even work part-time in a local fly fishing shop (Straightline Sports if you're ever in downtown Steamboat stop in and support a local small business). Along with fly fishing I love to go bird hunting with my two dogs Sage and Rebel. Whether I'm patiently waiting for ducks to fly over or casting my line to my favorite fishing hole the outdoors will always provide a quiet sanctuary.
More recently I have started to dabble in backcountry skiing. It's a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of our ski town in the middle of winter, shred some powder, and get a different kind of workout. Whenever I can't get outdoors for my free time I have fun drawing, painting or learning something new on the ukulele or guitar. |
